Workshop: What’s YOUR Stressor, and How Can We Combat the Negative Effects
Stress Has on Our Bodies and Minds?
Over seventy-three staff members started the New Year with an exciting workshop featuring four guest speakers. Our first speaker was Dr. Cindy Bergeman from the University of Notre Dame Department of Psychology who gave a talk on “How Stress Gets Under the Skin: Implications for Health and Well Being. Next, Chef Steve Stogdill from Victorian Pantry presented ideas for healthy eating and provided a few samples for all of us to try! Then Dr. Mark Lindholm from Natural Family Health Chiropractic, presented “The Chiropractic Health Paradigm; Benefits from Using Chiropractic and Massage for Whole Body Health and Improved Quality of Life.” His colleague Melanie Fair presented “Essential Oils 101; How Do Essential Oils Work to Calm and Relax the Body.” Last, Fitness Coordinator Tabbitha Ashford from REC Sports talked about the importance of excercise and provided information on the various programs and fitness classes offered by REC Sports.
After the workshop we enjoyed a Mexican buffet lunch and handed out several door prizes!
Fall 2015 Tour
This year the College of Arts & Letters staff went on a guided architectural walking tour in downtown South Bend. The day started at The Chicory Café where 29 staff members enjoyed beignets and coffee, all of which were provided by the Dean's Office.
Next we met outside the American Trust Place building for a fun and informative tour of some of South Bend's landmark buildings. We learned many facts about each building's history as well as their present day use. Our tour guide, Steve, was extremely friendly, funny, and informative, which made the 90 minute tour go by way too fast!

On our hike we stopped at The Manion Cabin and learned about some of the history of the park. One of the higlights during our hike was that we saw an osprey nest.
